Evan Roth, born in 1978 in Okemos, Michigan, is an American artist residing in Berlin. He earned his BFA in architecture from the University of Maryland and his MFA from the School of Communication, Design, and Technology at Parsons The New School for Design. In his art, he visualizes culture through unintentional forms of technology. The artist applies a hacker philosophy to an art practice that visualizes transient moments in public spaces, online, and in popular culture. His recent solo exhibitions include: Culturgest, Portugal, 2020; The Collection Lincoln & Usher Gallery, Lincoln, UK, 2019; and MOCA Jacksonville, Florida, 2019. His recent group exhibitions include: Jeu de Paume, Paris, 2020; Chronus Art Center, online, 2020; and Upstream Gallery, online 2020. In Sweden, Roth has exhibited at Erik Nordenhake, 2018; Belenius/Nordenhake, 2018, 2017, 2015; Gallery Niklas Belenius, 2014; HOST, 2015; and Alingsås Konsthall, 2014. His art is included in several public collections such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Israel Museum, Jerusalem, Museum of Modern Art, New York, and National Media Museum, Bradford, UK.
