A Limoges grisaille enamel plate representing the month of June in the manner of Jean Miette, 16th/17th century.
"June" from the series of the "Labours of the Months". The outer rim decorated with seraphim, classical medallions, female mascarons and scrollwork, the center with shepherds shearing sheep in a landscape and the zodiacal symbol of a crab, representing Cancer, the underside of the plate with a portait of the Roman emperor Claudius after an engraving by Marcantonio Raimondi. Diameter 20,5 cm.
Edge with several repairs.
