Giovan Battista Nani was an Italian historian born in Venice on August
30, 1616. He belonged to a patrician family and played a significant
role in both diplomatic and historical circles during his lifetime. At
the age of 25, Nani served as the ambassador of Venice to France from
1643 to 1668.
