Literature

In the early 1990s, Timo Sarpaneva worked at the Venini glass factory located on Murano Island in Venice, which was known as the center of all glass factories. For some time, he had been looking for a skilled maestro with whom he could work as a free artist without any limitations of an industrial designer. One day, while having dinner with Laura Santillana, the daughter of Paolo Venini, Timo noticed a beautiful glasswork on a dresser and inquired about its creator. Laura told him that it was made by a Murano maestro with 'golden hands' named Pino Signoretto. Timo contacted Pino in person, and their collaboration started in 1996. Timo was inspired by the designs of his youth and used his old stick-blown method to create a collection of brightly colored Kayaks, large Orchids, Lansetti variations, and Angels that represented a new design world. Timo created his glass colors by layering and testing the technical skills of his new workshop with difficult solutions. Everything they did together was a success.
