Robert Jacobsen, watercolors and gouaches F426

The artist Robert Jacobsen is best known for his sculptures in steel, wood, and stone. However, he was a very versatile artist who worked with many different techniques, including an extensive production of works on paper such as graphic prints, drawings, watercolors, and gouache paintings. Bukowskis has been commissioned to sell eight abstract artworks representative of his later productions from the years 1977-1987.

Robert Jacobsen lacked formal artistic training and taught himself to paint and sculpt. Although he was never an official member of the COBRA group, Jacobsen was strongly inspired by their working methods and, for a time, became associated with the group. Jacobsen was particularly drawn to the abstract art movements that emerged in the 1940s. At the end of the decade, he moved to Paris to become part of the artistic circle around the influential gallerist Denise René. This context allowed Jacobsen to have his works exhibited and appreciated internationally. He also had an academic career and served as a professor at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Works by Jacobsen are represented in prestigious locations and museums, including the Centre Pompidou, Musée Rodin in Paris, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, USA. His works can also be seen in many places and museums in Denmark.
