Marie Capaldis was born in 1958 in Gothenburg and is a Swedish artist. She received her art education at Konsthögskolan Valan in Gothenburg between the years 1985 and 1990. Her artistic expression revolves around the everyday, the home, and family members. She focuses particularly on her twin daughters, whose lives she has depicted from infancy to young adulthood. The twin identity is central to her artistic work. Marie Capaldis not only paints portraits of her twin daughters but also creates duplicates of herself, cups, cats, flowers, and the like. In these reflections, Marie sees an identity mirroring - a twin image. According to Capaldi, art is an exploration of identity and reflection, similarities and differences.
