Beth Laurin, born in 1935, is a Swedish artist who studied at Konstfack and the Royal Institute of Art, both located in Stockholm. Laurin made her artistic debut at Galleri Mejan in Stockholm in 1974. Her works are represented in significant locations such as the Gothenburg Museum of Art and the Moderna Museet, and she has also created several public artworks throughout Stockholm. During her nearly seventy-year career as an artist, Laurin has utilized various artistic expressions, but she is best known for her sculptures. Her art stems from an inexhaustible fascination with different materials and their potential, with a form of expression that varies between the concrete and the abstract. The work being auctioned, "Sculpture III", is part of Laurin's sculpture series consisting of four sculptures: "Sculpture I" (2006), "Sculpture II" (2006), and "Sculpture IIII" (2006), where "Sculpture I" has been enlarged and is located on Drottninggatan in Stockholm.
