More information

Cato Lein, born in 1957 in Båtsfjord, Norway, is an outstanding Swedish photographer with experience from the cultural editorial teams at Dagens Nyheter and Göteborgs-Posten. He has established himself by being represented in international photo exhibitions and is particularly known for his author portraits, where he creates a sense of calm and full concentration in his subjects, including well-known personalities like Ulf Lundell and Susan Sontag. Self-taught in photography, Lein began his career with rock photography and gradually developed a unique style characterized by a sharp gaze, some blur, and traces of photo emulsion. Cato Lein was awarded the Swedish Photobook Prize in 2023 for the book "Northern Silence," where he captured the Norwegian Finnmark region between 1984 and 2014 using a large-format camera.
