Sigvard Bernadotte (1907–2002) was a Swedish prince who became internationally recognized as a designer and illustrator.
Sigvard Bernadotte became the first in the Bernadotte family to obtain an academic degree. In the fall of 1926, he registered at Uppsala University, where he studied art history and political science, among other things. He then applied to the Technical School in Stockholm. In 1930 he was admitted to its decorative line and studied under Professor Olle Hjortzberg, who came to influence him for the simple and concentrated design he would later be famous for.
Sigvard Bernadotte is one of Sweden's most famous designers and has worked with almost all types of design. He has designed everything from utility items to exclusive silver items for, among others, Georg Jensen.
