Marina Zitting, born in 1966, is a Finnish artist and active in Helsinki. She studied at the University of the Arts in Helsinki from 1988 and at the renowned art school Escola Massana Art and Design in Barcelona in 1991. The year after her studies in Barcelona, Marina Zitting executed this auction's oil painting, "Jazz".
Marina Zitting is represented in the art collections at the Finnish National Gallery (Kansallisgalleria) foundation, which, among other things, runs the state museums Ateneum and Kiasma in Helsinki. Marina Zitting's art can also be found in Nordea's and Pro Artibus' significant collections in Finland.
Marina Zitting's expressive and often non-figurative oil paintings are characterized by a confident color and a both lyrical and dramatic imagery. She works in a variety of techniques, including oil and watercolors, for her paintings. In addition to creating her own art, Marina Zitting is active as a painting teacher.
Marina Zitting is represented by Galleri Bronda in Helsinki, most recently with a major exhibition in autumn 2022. During 2022, her work was also exhibited at Galleria Albert IX at the University of Helsinki, under the title "Art Meets Science". For the exhibition at Galleria Albert IX, Marina Zitting created the work "After the storm", a striking oil painting inspired by her collaboration with Professor Jari Yli-Kauhaluoma and Dr. Paula Kiuru from the Medicinal Chemistry Lab at the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Pharmacy.
