The sculpture depicting paternal love was cast by the artist himself in a foundry located in his Visavuori studio. The models are Wikström's friend and patron Uno Staudinger and his daughter Ensi. The sculpture was a gift from the artist to his friends Georg and Elsa Sidorow, and it was signed under Wickström's nickname Wiika.
