Marjatta Oja

Marjatta Oja completed her doctorate in art in 2011. Her principal techniques involve the use of video, photography and artefacts. The artist smoothly combines features of painting and video artistry in a work called Painting (1997-2013), in which a projection cast onto the painted surface awakens a living entity glistening in blue, red and yellow. The work was originally created for a 1997 exhibition at the Artek Gallery, and an installation was subsequently displayed at Kamppi metro station in Helsinki as part of the Play: Stars of Media Art exhibition in 2013.
