More information

Executed 1945.

Bukowskis are most grateful to Chief Curator Leena Ahtola-Moorhouse, Ateneum Art Museum, Finland, for providing us with information about the motif.

I think that the watercolour is a genuinen work by Helene Schjerfbeck. It is definately from her late period, painted in Nummela in Finland 1943.
It represents one of the persons in the painting called "Friends" Väninnorna, it is no. 682 (p 332) in the Ateneum catalogue 2012. I do not know the names of these friends, but they were characters in that sanatorium Luontola in Nummela.
