56 gold, red gold, bowenite, diamonds and rubies. Mihail Perchin St.Petersburg 1880-90. Hand seal shaped like an egg with a ruby and diamond set garland in red gold circulating the top part of the egg. The egg is held by three cherubs set with rubies, standing on the seal base. The seal has belonged to duke Rachlin-Rumjantsev and is engraved with his family's coat of arms. The seal is 6 cm high and weights 90 g.
The object was purchased in St. Petersburg at the beginning of the 20th century by a Finnish businessman in the grain trade. It was brought to Finland by its owner during the Russian revolution and has belonged to the same family ever since.
It has been on auction at Bukowskis 1981 and examined by Christie´s experts 1989.
