More information

While working with the project “ 3 to 5 Seconds – Rapid handmade production” in 2014 Jenny Nordberg researched ancient mirror making. The process and outcome was captivating and Nordberg has since then worked with this old method of making mirrors. The process used has it’s origin in the 19th century and is resulting in a thin layer of silver (Ag) on the glass surface. Not covering the whole surface of the glass, each mirror becomes different due to uncontrollable liquids within the process of making.

Designer

Jenny Nordberg is an industrial designer (MFA) based in Skåne. Nordberg works exploratively and interdisciplinarily to expand the contemporary view of design and the role of the designer. Whether it involves an experimental, conceptual, or commercial project, she is driven by a quest for alternatives to and strategies against irresponsible mass production. Stylistically, her works are characterised by a keen combination of brutalism and minimalism, often with humour and chance as important elements. Jenny Nordberg's work, which operates in the field between design and art, focuses on how we produce and consume today, how we have done so historically, and how this can be done differently in the future. By exploring questions like these, Nordberg aims to change the conditions of the design field and encourage designers to take a more engaged stance.
