More information

Stefan Hirsig lives and works in Berlin.
In his large-format exuberant paintings, structures and patterns come together in collage-like shapes. Everything is in motion. There is a pull between abstraction and figuration. References to the history of art are vying for attention until they are drowned out by another element of the composition. A brushstroke is interrupted by explosions of color and texture. The passionate tension in the composition conveys a fascinating sense of depth, into which one easily gets lost.
Stefan Hirsig's works have been presented in numerous exhibitions, such as Neues Museum Weserburg Bremen, Museum Morsbroich, Leverkusen, Galerie Martin Klosterfelde, Berlin, Sprüth Magers, Munich, Heinrich Erhardt, Madrid, Marella Arte Contemporanea, Milan, and Spencer Brownstone, New York. Since 2017, Hirsig is represented by Gallery Haverkampf Leistenschneider, Berlin.
The lot is only available for viewing at Bukowskis, Berzelii Park 1, September 15-17 and September 19.
