Each of Tsubaki’s five bowls have five sides. They also each have a depression in their centres that guide the next one toward the middle. The stacked bowl set forms a flower motif. Tsubaki means ‘rose’ in Japanese.
Handcrafted from pure tin, in Takaoka, Japan, using intricate metal casting techniques. The collaboration was made possible through Japan Creative–an organization promoting Japanese craftmanship excellence–and first shown in New York in January 2016.
