More information

Max Book is often inspired by the world of film and science fiction. The auction's artwork has clear references to the movie "From here to eternity" and the famous beach scene between Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr. The film was one of the biggest Hollywood hits of the 1950s. It was nominated for thirteen Oscars and won eight.

The auction's painting is an example of Max Book's experimental further development after the acclaimed exhibition "Malstroem de Luxe". The painting suite was praised and nominated Max Book for the Carnegie Art Award. His art in the 21st century can be described as paintings with an aura of beauty, luxury and doom. Paintings with a shimmering light, where the end results are beautiful, destructive and sometimes even threatening and dangerous.
