More information

The position of modern design at Kalevala Koru was strengthened when Börje Rajalin was hired as chief designer in 1956. In 1958 he participated with Eero Rislakki in Artek's avant-garde exhibition for young artists, which was the breakthrough of modern jewelery in Finland. According to Rajalin, it was only then that many realized that there were high-end modern jewellery in Finland.

Typical of Rajalin's jewelry are simple shapes and the use of stones and onraments. His stylish and high-end jewelery greatly influenced the popularity of silver jewelery among the Finnish population.
