In the beginning of the 1960s Sarpaneva worked together with Reino “Reka” Löflund, they tried to achieve a unique charred surface pattern. After many failed attempts the technique finally started to take form and the Finlandia series was born. The 'Shadow' glass sculpture is part of an original collection from the 1960s. A few pieces of each sculpture were produced and were not numbered.
