Öyvind Fahlström föddes i Brasilien, kom till Sverige före kriget, ställde ut i Paris, målade i Italien och levde senare länge i New York där han blev god vän med bl.a Jasper Johns och Robert Rauschenberg. Fahlström finns representerad på ledande internationella museer och har ställts ut på bl.a. Centre Pompidou, Paris och Museum of Modern Art, New York förutom vårt eget Moderna Museet. Det aktuella verket ”Hjärncentrifug” är en mycket vacker gouache från 1958 som ställdes ut hos den kände galleristen Daniel Cordier, Paris, i mars 1959 och har nr 58/1 i konstnärens eget arkiv.
