Timeless Sculpture

This curated themed auction reflects one person's love for art, particularly depictions of the human form. Assembled over a lifetime, the sculptures now seek the opportunity to beautify your homes. The creation of depictions (sculptures) has been practiced by humans since the Ice Age over 100,000 years ago, with materials and techniques varying over time. In earlier periods, sculptures often held religious or mystical significance.

In Ancient Greece, "sculpture" was considered one of the fine arts, alongside architecture, painting, poetry, and music. During this period, sculpture reached its peak, with the study of the human body in its nude form becoming a central focus. In statues of athletes and gods, as well as temple decorations and grave reliefs, Greek sculpture celebrated the beauty of the human figure. Portrait sculpture, too, was initially idealised.

The classical elements that began to emerge in the Gothic period broke through triumphantly during the Renaissance in Italy in the 15th century, with a number of great sculptors, from Ghiberti to Michelangelo, creating some of the finest works in the history of sculpture.

We hereby invite you to explore the collection and, hopefully, find one or more sculptures to adorn your home with.
