A four-piece silver tea and coffee service, marks of John McMullin, Philadelphia, circa 1820.

Comprising coffee pot, teapot, sugar bowl with lid and a cream jug; each vase-shaped, on spreading circular foot with decor of palmettes and pearlstrings, the coffee pot and the teapot with foliate scroll handle and spout termination in a bird's head, the sugar bowl with foliate scroll loop handles with a ram's head, the cream jug with flying scroll handle terminating in a bird's head, the domed covers rising to a circular pedestal supporting a bud finial issuing from a foliate calyx, the sides engraved with script initials DL, the teapot and cream jug later engraved on the foot 1819, each marked. Minor wear and scattered scratchmarks due to age and use. Some dent and minor chip.
