Stig Lindberg

Together with Wilhelm Kåge, Stig Lindberg founded Gustavsberg’s Studio in 1942, focusing primarily on creating hand-painted faience and stoneware pieces. The creative journey began with an exhibition at Gustavsberg’s showroom on Birger Jarlsgatan in Stockholm. The exhibition, titled "Fajanser målade i vår," introduced the world to Lindberg’s distinctive faiences, characterised by their milky-white glazes and vibrant patterns. Flowers and geometric shapes brought a sense of playfulness and elegance to each piece. During the 1950s and 1960s, Stig Lindberg simultaneously worked with stoneware, producing magnificent vases and bowls featuring pressed or incised decorations and various glazes, many of which have become highly collectible today.

As a designer, Stig Lindberg was remarkably versatile, working with great curiosity and imagination across a wide range of materials. The themed auction features, among other highlights, two tables with painted enamelled steel tops, some of Lindberg’s iconic watering cans made of plastic and rattan, and much more.

We invite you to explore a curated selection of pieces by one of the 20th century’s most celebrated Swedish designers.
