Björn Borg – Legendary Tennis Gems

Bukowskis is proud to present Björn Borg – Legendary Tennis Gems, an online auction featuring specially designed rackets for one of the giants of tennis history, Björn Borg. All the rackets in this auction come from Lennart Bergelin's collection and were specifically made according to Borg's preferences. They have been passed down to Lennart’s son, Niclas Bergelin, and tennis remains alive in the family. Don't miss the opportunity to acquire these significant pieces of Swedish sporting history and world-class tennis heritage. All the rackets are signed by Björn Borg and come with certificates issued by him personally.

Björn Borg is one of Sweden’s most iconic athletes. In the remarkable story of the Södertälje-born player who reached the very pinnacle of the tennis elite, Borg’s coach and companion Lennart Bergelin plays a key role. Bergelin, who in 1948 became the first Swedish tennis player to win a Grand Slam title by claiming the doubles crown with Jaroslav Drobný, played a total of 88 Davis Cup matches.

After his active playing career, Bergelin became the captain of the Swedish Davis Cup team (1971–76). He led Sweden to its first Davis Cup title with a final victory in 1975. The team at that time included Björn Borg, who Bergelin coached personally between 1971 and 1983. His significance to the Swedish tennis phenomenon is undeniable today.

Final consignments are ongoing for our upcoming live auction Modern Art & Design, 19–20 November.
