A Louis XV-style 'faux tortoise' and gilt brass-mounted striking mantel clock, late 19th century.

Case veneered in imitation tortoise shell, known as "faux tortoise". Fittings of gilded brass. White enamelled with Roman and Arabic numeral indices, signed "V. déposé". Full and half strike. Pendulum included. Length 26, width 14, height 51 cm.

Wear. Veneer repairs. Worn gilding. Movement not tested.
