Gunnar Hedin's Technica Collection

Gunnar Hedin, born in 1922 in Marma, Sweden, was the youngest of six brothers. His passion for writing began at an early age, and as a teenager he published the newspaper Skarpnäcksbladet, overseeing everything from the first page to the last. In the 1940s, Gunnar pursued his interest in writing by studying journalism. He embarked on a career in journalism, working for various newspapers before eventually starting his tenure at Norrtälje Tidning at the end of the decade.

In 1949, Gunnar met Märta Östman, and they got married the same year in a crowded church in Norrtälje. The couple spent a few years moving around in Sweden before finally settling in Borås in the mid-1950s, where Gunnar became the advertising manager at Libo. When Libo went bankrupt in the 1960s, Gunnar purchased the advertising department, establishing his own company called Reklamhuset AB. This marked the beginning of the Hedins' entrepreneurial journey. With Gunnar's creative abilities and Märta's financial expertise, they quickly acquired new businesses and contracts.

As the traditional advertising market declined in the late 60s, Gunnar became fascinated by a newly launched video camera from Japan. In 1967, he purchased the video camera, which marked the beginning of Scand Video AB, the first privately owned TV company in Scandinavia. The company specialized in creating moving advertisements for major Swedish corporations, and over the years, Scand Video led many prestigious productions, including recording the royal wedding as the sole private producer. They also produced an innovative series called "Sweden Today," which showcased different regions of Sweden through news segments and was broadcast in over 30 countries. Towards the end of the 1980s, the company was sold to Swedish investors.

Gunnar's early interest in technology resulted in an impressive collection of cameras and other technical equipment, with a focus on capturing moving images. Bukowskis has now been entrusted with selling parts of the Hedins' extensive Technica collection. The auction includes 32 items representing Swedish and international film, photo, audio, and recording equipment.
