More information

Introduced in 2005, the Planet Ocean line marked a bold evolution within Omega’s Seamaster family, combining deep-sea capability with vintage-inspired design cues drawn from the brand’s diving heritage. The reference 2201.51.00 is the 42mm variant of the first-generation Planet Ocean, powered by the in-house co-axial calibre 2500 and featuring a high-contrast black and orange aesthetic.

The model features a robust stainless steel case with a unidirectional bezel and a helium escape valve at 10 o’clock – hallmarks of a professional-grade dive watch. With a depth rating of 600 meters (2000 feet), it was built for saturation diving, but designed to wear comfortably in everyday contexts.

This specific configuration, black dial with bold orange numerals at 6, 9, and 12, quickly became emblematic of the collection. The matte dial, applied markers, and broad arrow hands provide superb legibility, while the co-axial escapement ensures long-term performance and precision with extended service intervals.
