In 2018, a small circle of passionate watch collectors at Facebook (Meta) began discussing a unique collaboration between Tudor and Instagram. Central to this initiative was an engineer with close ties to watch retailer Shreve & Co. in San Francisco.

Driven by a shared fascination with horology, and inspired by Instagram’s meteoric rise at the time, the group spent several years developing the concept. Their efforts culminated in approval from Instagram’s executive team for a limited release of 40 pieces. However, due to unexpectedly high interest among the collectors, an extra watch was commissioned, bringing the total number produced to 41.
