More information

In the early 1970s, Rolex introduced two references that would define the Daytona for nearly twenty years: the 6263 and the 6265. Both permanently adopted screw-down pushers and crowns—first seen on reference 6240—signaling a major step toward the modern Daytona. The main difference between the two lay in their aesthetics: reference 6263 used a black acrylic bezel insert, while reference 6265 featured a steel tachymeter bezel.

This particular mid-1980s reference 6265 boasts the coveted “Big Red” dial, named for the bold red “Daytona” text arched above the six o’clock sub-dial. Even more impressive is that it has spent over three decades in the same Swedish collection.
