The Rolex Submariner reference 5513 was introduced in 1962 and remained in production until 1989, making it one of the longest running references in Rolex’s history
The dial on this watch is a variant often referred to by collectors as a “Pre-Comex” dial, named for its visual similarities to those found on the reference 5514 Submariners issued to COMEX. Notable features include a rounded, wide coronet, a pronounced serif on the "L" in "ROLEX", open sixes in the depth rating, and the positioning of the “=” sign slightly to the left of the “A” in “SUBMARINER.” These dials are typically associated with cases in the 5 million serial number range.
What further distinguishes this example is its completeness. It is accompanied by its original inner and outer box, guarantee papers, hang tag, and the original sales receipt.
