Designed in 1986, the telephone "Enorme" was the result of a collaboration between the Italian designer Ettore Sottsass and his friend David Kelley, founder of the design firm IDEO. Sottsass created the conceptual design, while Kelley and his team were responsible for the engineering. To produce the phone, the two formed Enorme Corporation with a third friend, Jean Pigozzi.

Designer

Ettore Sottsass was an Italian architect and designer. In 1980, Sottsass founded the Memphis Group - a postmodern, collaborative, architecture and design group based in Milan, Italy. The group focused heavily on unconventional furniture design. Sottsass has been described as influential in the postmodern design language that opposes the ideals of strict functionalism.
