More information

Alexander Lervik drew inspiration for the Spike Chair during a trip to the Philippines, where a heavy rain influenced the character of the chair's structure of sticks. The Spike Chair is one of Lervik's more art-focused objects, where all commercial aspects of series production have been set aside to make room for a more groundbreaking type of design. The idea was to create a chair with a strong graphic character featuring the 60 angled sticks. The major challenge was to make the chair functional and comfortable to sit in, which was achieved through the work with the sticks made of ash, which are in 30 different lengths and have angled ends. The edition was originally intended to include 3 examples but has been revised to a unique piece.
