More information

The composition originates from an engraving by Lucas Vorsterman (1595–1675), which in turn is based on a painting by Peter Paul Rubens. The painting was previously located in Saint Nicholas Church in Brussels and was destroyed in a fire in 1695. An identical motif has also been executed by David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl. (Signed D.
