An antique pictoral Kerman Laver rug, south east Persia (Iran) c. 212 x 138 cm.

A burgundy ground with a portrait of Timur Lenk of the Timurid Empire (1336-1405) and inscriptions within medallions, as well as birds, animals, and flowering branches in bone white, light red, pink, light yellow, dark yellow, and various shades of green, blue, and brown. Bone white main border with animals in a landscape and corner medallions with portraits and inscriptions.
