Circa 1890-1910. An ivory ground with a polychrome landscape taken from the Shahnama (The Book of Kings) by Abu ol-Qasem Mansur (c. 935-1026), also known as Ferdowsi, depicting the Sasanian Shah Bahram Gur hunting on horseback.

Hajji Mollah Mohammed Hassan Mohtasham is considered one, of a very limited number, of masters who successfully re-established Kashan as a carpet hub in Iran (Persia) in the late 19th century. The term 'Mohtachem' is often used and is synonymous with the finest carpets that were tied in Kashan at the end of the 1800s by Hajji Mollah Mohammed Hassan Mohtasham and his family. The carpets from his atelier are identified, for example, by light blue cotton inserts and violet silk languetting.
