More information

Björn Weckström (born 1935) is a pioneer of modern jewellery art. His jewellery is characterised by simple, pure forms with sculptural qualities. Weckström's designs are based on the barren Nordic landscape. Partly in his way of relating to the material, partly in the broken and uneven surfaces. Already after graduating in 1956, he worked in different materials, which he irreverently mixed. He has designed silver, gold, acrylic and bronze collections throughout his career. This approach to design was pioneered in the 1960s. During the 1970s, Weckström spent much time working on a sculpture in Italy. He has also been a guest designer of art glass for Nuutajärvi.
