a rectangular sterling lidded box, Lund Sweden 1962, reportedly a gift from Wiwen to GAN (Gösta Adrian-Nilsson).

Provenance

Reportedly a gift from Wiven Nilsson to Gösta Adrian Nilsson (GAN), later inherited by Monica Stengård in Norrköping.

Designer

Wiwen Nilsson was a Swedish designer born in Copenhagen. He studied at his father's workshop, as well as in Germany, Denmark, and France. Nilsson is primarily known for his objects created in silver with geometric, clean, and austere forms. Nilsson debuted at the Gothenburg Exhibition in 1923. At the Stockholm Exhibition in 1930, he had his major breakthrough, and his innovative modernism was a success. Nilsson created, among other things, jewellery, table silver, and services.
