Harry Winston (1896-1978) was known as "The King of Diamonds," and he dealed with many of the world's most famous diamonds. In 1958, Winston donated the infamous Hope Diamond, which is believed to be the world's most expensive diamond, to the Smithsonian in Washington DC, where it remains on public display to this day. He opened his first store in New York in 1932 and has since provided the American elite with classic, uncompromising jewellery of the highest quality.
