A Swedish Gustavian 18th century silver coffee-pot, mark of Gustaf Hamnqvist, Borås 1788.

Cylindrical form, standing on four leaf feet. Lid with a knob in the shape of a flower stem. Straight handle of blackened wood. Height 21 cm. Total weight 856 g.

In main encyklopaedia of Swedish silversmithing, which includes all the maker's marks, this coffee pot is mentioned as the masterpiece (the examination piece for the master craftsman's diploma) of the silversmith Gustaf Hamnqvist. He made his masterpiece in Borås in 1788 but then worked in Åmål between 1789-1818.
