Circa 1850. A red ground with a polychrome medallion, niche and stylized flowers. A grid divided main border with stylized flowers.
The rug was made by nomads in the mountains of the Bergama area during the Ottoman Empire. These carpets from the mid-19th century remain rare collectibles as there have been very few of them, and they are very unusual to see at auction.
