A pair of Meissen armorial dessert dishes, 19th century.

Underglaze blue factory mark. Inpressed no 47. Lobed rim, with a pierced decoration of water lillies surrounding the central mirror that is decorated with swans and cranes in a pond with fishes. Finely painted and gilded decoration, central coat of arms in acollé with the arms of von Sachsen and the coat of arms of Sweden beneath a royal coronet. Diameter 24.5 cm.

Provenance

The plates are from a dinner service comissioned as a wedding service on the coronation of prins Albert of Sachsen and his wife Carola (granddaughter of the Swedish King Gustav IV Adolf).
