Ebony, boxwood, and bone. Carved decoration of flowers and leaves against a stippled background. The upper side dated 1748. Sculpted handle in the shape of a bird's head. With a profiled wedge and plane iron. Length 13.5, width 3.7, height 6.5 cm.

Provenance

Presumably produced for Adolf Fredrik, the workshop at Kina slott.

Compare the three very similar planes that belonged to Adolf Fredrik at Kina slott, Drottningholm , now in the collections of the Royal Armoury: 8238_LRK; also compare three planes sold at Bukowskis International Spring Auction 540, 2006, cat. no. 639-41. Another set of four planes marked with Adolf Fredriks monogram are in a Swedish private collection.
