Lincke, Copenhagen, a silver case pocket watch, mid 18th century.

Gilt movement signed "Joh : Jac : Lincke / Copenhagen" and numbered 57, with pierced and engraved balance cock and baluster pillars with Christian VI's crowned monogram, enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute scale, the case with repousseé décor. Diameter circa 49mm.

Johan Jacob Lincke was, in his time, one of the most prominent watchmakers in Copenhagen, but today he is best known for taking on the 14-year-old apprentice Jörgen Jörgensen in 1759, who later went on to establish the watchmaking dynasty Jürgensen.
