Designer

Iskandar Jalil (b. 1940) is Singapore's well-known master potter, trained in Japan in the 1970s. Iskandar's style is organic, with hints of Japanese techniques. His works speak of Japanese discipline, infused with the philosophy of Southeast Asia such as the Islamic motifs and of his travels.

Iskandar's works have been featured in public and private collections. In 1988, he received the Cultural Medallion for his contributions to the visual arts scene in Singapore.
