A part Copeland coral ground dessert service, England, circa 1800. (38 pieces)

Decorated in vivid colours medallions of flowers against a coral ground decorated with stars. The rim with furgher panesl of lowers and fretwork. Comprising 11 plates, diameter 22 cm, 18 smaller plates, diameter 20.5 cm, 8 (2+2+2+2) serving dishes, and a ice cream cooler with cover and liner. Height 25.5 cm.

Chips. Wear. One repair to rim. Three pieces with crazing to glaze.

Provenance

The service was given to Carl Olof Cronstedt (1756-1820) as a gift from the duke of Gloucester, when de duke visited Sveaborg in 1802. Thence by descent within the Cronstedt family.
