More information

The advent of Audemars Piguet's 'Quantième Perpétuel Automatique' series of ultra-thin perpetual calendar wristwatches, featuring an automatic movement in 1978, stands as one of the most monumental milestones in watchmaking over the past half-century.

This particular specimen, the ref. 25548, is encased in an elegantly slim 18K yellow gold case, adhering to the timeless dimensions of 36 mm. Its case exhibits a graceful stepped bezel, complemented by the subtle curvature of its lugs and a modest crown. Remarkably, only a limited production run of 2,066 pieces in yellow gold graced the horological stage between 1984 and 1991.

Powering the "Quantième Perpétuel" series is the renowned Audemars Piguet caliber 2120/2800 automatic movement, stemming from the legendary ultra-thin caliber 920 base movement by Jaeger LeCoultre. This foundational movement has left an indelible mark in horological history, having been employed in iconic timepieces like AP's Royal Oak, Patek Philippe's Nautilus, and Vacheron Constantin's 222. In the case of the 'Quantième Perpétuel' line, Audemars Piguet meticulously reengineered the caliber 920 to incorporate the complexities of a perpetual calendar and the opulence of a 21K yellow gold rotor.
