The architects Erik and Tore Ahlsén, mainly known for Årsta Centrum in Stockholm, also designed furniture and interiors. The fixture "Pia" was designed around the year 1940. The unusual floor model, which due to its characteristic profile was named "Napoleon on the Nile", was produced in the 1940s in a small edition with a cast bronze base. The model was originally designed by Tore Ahlsén for KF. NK took over the model when KF reportedly considered the manufacturing costs to be too high. Since the 1970s, Gärsnäs has been manufacturing the floor lamp, but now with a black cast iron base and this variant has been made in large series.
