More information

Fredrik Nielsen is described as a rebel with a critical and rebellious approach to glass art. Inspired by popular culture, he includes both graffiti, music, video and performance in his works. His sculptures have a raw expression that breaks with the aesthetics of the European glass tradition, and perhaps also with the viewer's expectations.

Fredrik Nielsen lives and works in Stockholm. He is educated at Orrefors Glass School, Pilchuck Glass School and the Royal Academy of Arts, Stockholm. He is represented by Wetterling Gallery, Stockholm. He has exhibited at, among others, the American Swedish Institute, Minneapolis USA and at the traveling exhibition Nordic Contemporary Glass at the Pera Museum in Istanbul and shortlisted in the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize. Nielsen is represented at Nationalmuseum Stockholm, Borås Art Museum, Ariana museum in Geneva, Corning museum New York.
