A gilt copper alloy figure of buddha, Tibeto Nepalese, stylistically from the 14th/15th Century,

and presumably from the period. Seated in dhyanasana on double lotus throne holding a . Downcast eyes, long flattened nose, elongated earlobes. Clad in dhoti that is draped over his left shoulder. Height 16.5 cm.

Base placque missing. Wear.

Provenance

The Collection of Adolf F Ahlgren (1872-1954) and his wife Anna (1879-1966), thence by descent. Adolf Ahlgren was a Swedish industrialist and the founder of the Läkerol Company, Ahlgrens technical works. Bukowskis has sold items from the Ahlgren Asian collection before. See sale 586 and 597
